Alone Together
Back to the start -
The shimmering light
Of my own aloneness.
After a long night,
At celebrations end
Everyone departed
Leaving this house
Desolate, with each
Object in it,
To itself.
The owls have
Fallen asleep,
The crows
Merged into the night,
The stars
Swallowed by the distance
And I, finally
Alone.
O, how I’ve missed
This place where
Questions, answers
And meaningless pursuits
Have left my tired flesh.
Even my one
True prayer -
To lose it all -
Has fallen into a well
So deep that
Only listening
Remains.
* * *
I have no
Limbs, I’m all
Tears and confusion
Dancing
Maddened joy
Right in
The heart of
Of lamenting,
The howling reach
Of all living things,
The last breath
Escaping all desperate
And inevitable endings.
Sorrow
Undressed is love;
Hatred,
The fullness of light;
Rage, unblemished joy.
Please
I beg you,
Remember
Who you are.
