Thoughts In Meditation

“Sometimes in meditation we over emphasize having a quiet mind, which inadvertently keeps it going. It’s wonderful when the mind totally stops but it can be just as wonderful to allow the thoughts to continue without having any investment in them. As we learn to rest into the moment in a conscious way, a thought stream may appear. If we have no attachment or aversion to the thought, the thought itself can keep an aspect of our conscious mind occupied long enough for Spirit to do its work. You’ll know this happened because you’ll notice a subtle or overt sense that something has rushed into you. As if Grace appears out of nowhere, quietly saying “Rest assured I am here. You need not worry. Give all your concerns to me.” Our work then is to notice this Grace and trust it with the entirety of our being. In giving ourselves to it, this Grace on its own accord stills and quiets the mind no matter if there are thoughts or not. ”
